Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic, located in Spartanburg, South Carolina, was granted reaffirmation of its accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of the Council of Chiropractic Education (CCE) on Friday, January 23, 1998. Accreditation is a status granted by the Commission on Accreditation of the CCE to institutions that have been found to meet the stated Standards for Chiropractic Institutions and also to have satisfactorily addressed the institutions mission, goals and objectives. Accreditation entitles institutions to the confidence of the educational community and the public it serves.
The reaffirmation process includes continuous self-evaluation by the institution to measure its effectiveness in relation to its mission, goals and objectives; official application to CCE for reaffirmation of accreditation; submission of a self-study report regarding the assessment of outcomes for the continuing improvement of educational equality; a site team visit and report; and a review and evaluation by the Commission on Accreditation.
Sherman Colleges reaffirmation was granted for a period of five years. In announcing this achievement, Dr. David Koch, president of Sherman College, thanked the faculty, staff and students for their part in this accomplishment and stated Accreditation is important in helping an institution maintain a quality educational program. We are very proud of what we have accomplished at Sherman College and pleased that this has been acknowledged through reaffirmation of our accreditation.
