New Employees named at Sherman College

Mercy Navis, M.S. has been named Assistant Professor in Anatomy. Mercy holds a master's degree in human anatomy from the University of Madras and has 20 years of teaching experience in medical schools in India. Before coming to Sherman College, Mercy was employed as an assistant professor in anatomy at the M.S. Ramiah Medical School in Bangalore, India.

Gene Loflin, Ph.D. has been named, Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Loflin earned his Ph.D. from Florida State University. Before coming to Sherman College, he was the director of developmental education and academic support services at Catonsville Community College, in Catonsville, Maryland. In 1985, Dr. Loflin was selected for Who's Who Among Scholars in American Community, Technical and Junior Colleges.

Marggi Dobos Roldan has been named Development & Alumni Affairs Coordinator, Marggi, originally from Struthers, Ohio, holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Ohio University. She was employed at Sherman College from 1980 to 1987. Before returning to Sherman College, Marggi was employed for 10 years as communications director at the National Beta Club. She is a member of Altrusa International of Spartanburg, a group that Eula Sherman helped to charter locally in 1961. She also enjoys raising Boykin Spaniels, the South Carolina state dog.

Shawn Masto has been named Assistant Registrar. Shawn holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the College of Charleston. Before coming to Sherman College, she spent three years performing survey analysis reporting for a computer software company. Shawn also spent nine years working for Boston College in graduate admissions and financial aid.

Deborah Thomason has been named as Assistant to the Deans of Student Services and Continuing Education.

Deb, who holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Limestone College, is originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina. Before coming to Sherman College, she was employed as a substitute teacher in the Spartanburg County school system for 15 years.

Julie Case has been named Accountant in the Business & Finance Office. Julie, a graduate of James F. Byrnes High School in Spartanburg, attended Spartanburg Methodist College. Before coming to Sherman College, she was employed as administrative assistant to the plant manager at Reeves International in Spartanburg.

Lynde Shaw has been named Assistant to the Dean of Chiropractic Health Services. Lynde, a 1993 graduate of Blair High School in Blair, Nebraska, is new to the Spartanburg area. Before coming to Sherman College, she was employed as a sales specialist at the Radisson Hotel Reservation Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Lexa Jones has been named Health Center Receptionist. Lexa holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology from Wofford College in Spartanburg. Before coming to Sherman College, Lexa was director of social services at White Oak Estates Nursing Home in Spartanburg. She is currently enrolled in the master's program in educational and initial certification at Converse College, also in Spartanburg. She enjoys mountain biking and is a cat lover.

Dawn Barnette has been named Health Center Receptionist. Dawn, who attended the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg, holds an L.P.N. degree from Spartanburg Technical College. Before coming to Sherman College, she was employed at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in communications.

Tammy Waldrop has been named Records Room Clerk. Tammy is currently studying nursing at the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg, where she is a member of the Dance Team. Before coming to Sherman College, she worked at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Lee Wardlaw, Jr. has been hired in the maintenance department at Sherman College. Before coming to Sherman College, Lee was employed in maintenance at the One Price Clothing Distribution Center in Duncan, South Carolina.

Melissa Sherbert has been named Records Room Clerk in the Sherman College Chiropractic Health Center. Melissa is currently pursuing automated office studies at Spartanburg Technical College. Before coming to Sherman College, she was employed at ABC Learning Center in Wellford, South Carolina.
